Here's something that I chanced upon from a Longhorn Blog
The Open Source Community and Microsoft need to get along. Both sides see each other as enemies. Instead, they should not be called sides in the first place. Maybe open source should be renamed research, or something less of a contradictory business
Q. Why does the Open Source Community (atleast part of it, the rest of them dont really care) dislike Microsoft ?
A. Well, the answer is because it ain't Open Source !!! Someone once said buying and using a Closed source proprietary product is like buying a Car with its Hood welded shut !
Give me a _good_ product & I'll appreciate it ! I belong to the group who dislikes Microsoft, but that is because MSFT gives me products that are bug-filled and at a hefty price tag. Despite all my qualms about Microsoft I still state that MS Excel is the _best_ Spreadsheet application around. Even though I make do with OpenOffice Calc on my Debian Sid box @ work, I think Excel is way ahead of the rest. I cant say that about other Microsoft products !
Anyday I'd choose Linux to Windows, Apache to IIS, MySQL to MS SQL server
On the other hand, even if Microsoft had a better product would you open source guys use it? I know you guys like Linux, and I think you would use that if you could, but instead you guys use Macs. Is this because you want anything but Microsoft ?
Untrue ... see above !
