It's been a couple of days since I've posted to this blog ...

A few things running in my mind :

Now this is something straight out of the minds of one of those Socio-cultural theorists commenting on the influence of Blogs on modern life !

Tony Perkins of AlwaysOn fame has a posting inviting his readers to contribute to his next book which is Google

Note to members: AO members are encouraged to post their thoughts and reflections on what I write in this ongoing blog on Google. The goal is to work with AO members to write a book that gets published before Google goes public. If you have a really juicy scoop, please email it to google@alwayson-network.com. This email will only be read by me, and I promise to keep whatever you send to me in complete confidence unless you advise otherwise. Those members who either post or e-mail me inside information that I end up using in the book will be listed as contributing editors in the Acknowledgements section of the book.

This is cool ! real cool - Just wondering if he would release his book under some kind of an Open Content license ?

Consider this for a moment ...

A group of people want to either popularise or defame a particular concept or individual. In the normal course of things , this would require a mammoth propoganda drive to indoctrinate the concept into the minds of millions ... (something that the US administration now and the Nazis earlier had done to perfection)

However, in the Internet Age, where Google and its PageRank system literally decide which web URLs you visit and which you ignore (being relegated to the 10 th and 20 th search result pages), the issue of mass indoctrination takes a totally different meaning

Say I need to defame Joe Black (who is totally a figment of my imagination), if I can put hundreds of web pages which link to each other each referring to Joe Black as a scheming double-crosser and the loyal Google spider bots and crawls each of these the end result of any search query on "Joe Black" would be that Joe Black is a dirty scheming conniving double-crosser !!!
